Research Profile
I am a researcher at the Centre of Renewable Energy Research at the University Eswatini with an interest renewable energy. My interest is in using nanotechnology (the science of small things) to solve energy crisis. My educational background includes a BSc. in Biology and Chemistry from the University of Eswatini, a PGCE from the same university, a MSc. in Chemistry from the University of Johannesburg, and a Ph.D. in Chemistry. The emphasis of my research projects for both MSc and PhD is understanding the principles that govern the functioning of renewable energy photovoltaic materials as clean and environmentally sustainable complimentary alternatives to fossil fuels. In my MSc project, I synthesized photoactive dyad units from carbon nanotubes and chlorophyll derivatives extracted from plants. These units can be used for building solar energy converting systems. My PhD research focussed on the design, fabrication and optimisation of components of dye sensitised solar cells. My objective as a researcher is to significantly expand my knowledge in other fields of renewable energy find alternative energy solutions.
